Please view our City of Brooks Careers Corner page for more details.The City of Brooks requires a Bylaw Enforcement Officer in the Fire Services Department.Job Details & Responsibilities:As the Bylaw Enforcement Officer, you will report to the Manager of Administration and you will be responsible for achieving compliance with City bylaws through a combination of education and enforcement. You will also ensure the timely and accurate administration, enforcement and follow up of Municipal Bylaws and provide Animal Control services to the City of Brooks.Requirements:

  • As the successful applicant, you must have completed the twelfth (12th) school grade, or equivalent, and possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract;
  • You must also possess a valid First Aid and CPR certification. A diploma from a recognized two (2) year post-secondary law enforcement program would be a definite asset;
  • The incumbent should possess a minimum of either one (1) year of law enforcement experience in Canada or a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in providing security in a public setting in Canada; and,
  • The following would also be considered assets for this position: understanding of basic law enforcement practices and procedures; Animal Handling training; Defensive Training; above-average written and communication skills; ability to handle conflict situations with professionalism and diplomacy; and the ability to problem solve and use personal discretion in decision making.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2022 starting wage rate for this position is $28.76 per hour. This position is based on a forty (40) hour work week, which may include shift work. The Collective Agreement including wages can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
  • Additionally, you will receive a free family membership to the JBS Canada Centre during your term of employment.
