Job Description

Savanna Well Servicing is hiring for the position of Field Superintendent.This position will be based in Brooks, ABThis position is ideal for a candidate with experience working on service rig and is able to travel regularly to rig sites as well as work closely with our rig crews. Candidate must be passionate about promoting a safety based culture and mentoring/coaching Rig Managers.Interested applicants must be able to work in the field regularly, be on-call, work weekends and overtime, as needed.*** What does Savanna offer

  • Under the direction of the Regional Manager, this position is responsible for the overall operations, crews, and equipment for an assigned area(s).
Supervision Exercised:
  • Supervises Rig Managers and other field staff as required.
Summary of Duties:
  • Supervise Rig Managers and ensure all company and government rules, policies and regulations are followed, as well as addressing customer concerns;
  • Assess and coach Rig Managers to provide quality supervision to their crews;
  • Approve PO’s, invoices, and want list requisition forms pertaining to rigs;
  • Conduct detailed rig inspections and submit rig inspection documentation on a timely basis;
  • Work in conjunction with HSE department to ensure all procedures are being followed, safety requirements are adhered to at each rig, and any deficiencies are corrected;
  • Work with the HSE department to ensure a full and timely investigation of all serious safety incidents;
  • Work in conjunction with the Human Resources department to ensure that each rig is sufficiently staffed with competent crews;
  • Work in conjunction with the Technical Training department and with Rig Managers to ensure crew members have required training and ongoing participation in training and development programs;
  • Work with Rig Managers in investigating and dealing with personnel, conflict, or performance issues on the crews, enlisting the aid of HR as appropriate;
  • Work in conjunction with the maintenance department to ensure that each rig is in good condition and repairs are planned to avoid down time;
  • Organize extra rig equipment as required (crew trucks, tubulars, flights, BOP’s, etc.);
  • Monitor all equipment for recertification and schedule as required;
  • Process all paperwork in timely manner and meet the documentation requirements;
  • Represent Savanna at operator initiated field safety meetings, stand downs and prespuds as required;
  • Assist in coordinating rig moves, county permits with Rig Managers and trucking companies;
  • Ensures adherence to operating standards and is accountable for field operations in assigned area(s);
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • At least 10 years oilfield industry experience;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Valid, related certifications such as H2S Alive, First Aid, Blow-out Prevention.
