Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor to work at our Burlington, office.In this role, the Transportation Operation Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of dispatchers in the planning and assignment of trucks for picks ups and deliveries to various customers in Ontario. The Transportation Supervisor must ensure there is enough freight to keep all trucks moving, and dispatch trucks. This position requires a strong understanding of planning, problem-solving, and efficient use of resources.Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday - Day Shift.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of dispatchers to cover all operational needs.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and dispatch drivers according to customer requirements.
  • Throughout the shift, continually review the list of loads and their respective points of origin, destination, pick-up, and delivery time.
  • Plan personnel and equipment according to fairness, proximity (minimizing empty miles), and equipment type required for loads as well as hours of service and maximizing utilization.
  • Ensure accurate and timely load requirements are conveyed to operators.
  • Coordinate load securement devices i.e. load bars, logistics bars, and straps.
  • Promote safety, service excellence, and teamwork amongst co-workers and drivers.
  • Accountable for service issues that are a result of planning errors. Ensure follow-through with corrective action.
  • This position will require on-call.
  • The load planner will report directly to the Transportation Manager.
Education and Skills Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience planning customer loads & freight movements.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new programs.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Analytical skills and detail-oriented.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
