At Lafarge Canada Inc., safety comes first, collaboration matters and diversity is celebrated with people who share our desire to continually make our materials better.Do you have the drive, the skills, and the passion to join usOverview:The Quarry Maintenance Lead is responsible for the maintenance Planning and Inspections on the Quarry Mobile Fleet and the Quarry Fixed Plant crushing system. This position has direct reports of 2 mechanics and 1 millwright and reports to the Quarry department while working closely with the Plant Maintenance Department. There will be additional support from the Plant Maintenance Coordinator, Plant Maintenance Supervisor and Plant pool millwrights in order to get shut down work completed.In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Exshaw Cement plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.As part of the management team, this position also has a contribution regarding the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning mobile and fixed plant maintenance and general operations. This role has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations between the quarry maintenance employees and other departments.Responsibilities:Safety:

  • Ensures that employees, equipment and processes meet or exceed Alberta OH&S, and Lafarge guidelines.
  • Pursues a culture of safety that is best in class with an objective of “zero” injuries or incidents. Actively engages with the workforce to reinforce safe behaviours.
Environment:
  • Establishes the environment as a priority in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Ensures local, provincial and federal regulations are met or exceeded by following Lafarge best practices and conditions of the site’s permits.
Maintenance Management:
  • Provides direct oversight in the scheduling and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant equipment at the site.
  • Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure mobile maintenance activities are optimized and costs are best in class.
  • Effectively utilizes Lafarge’s maintenance programs to ensure the proper scheduling of activities.
Performance Management:
  • Promotes a culture of performance.
  • Effectively utilizes KPIs and Performance Efficiency Reviews to implement changes that effectively track performance, establish goals, and continuously improve the operations.
Contractor Management:
  • Work with contractors to provide a safe and efficient service. Provide LCC activities to ensure that contractors are working safely.
Quality:
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets and limits).
Planning:
  • Develops daily maintenance schedules, weekly maintenance plans, and schedules work with employees for the plant to continuously improve productivity, maintain low costs, and ensure high efficiency of equipment use.
Plant Image:
  • Maintains the plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant image. Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance, property, and buildings.
HR/Labour Relations:
  • Supervises the workforce directly (3 personnel).
  • Responsible for effective and efficient use of hourly employees, recognition, and disciplinary actions.
  • Fosters effective employee relations through team management skills.
  • Establishes a safe and productive work environment where employees are proud to be members of the Lafarge family.
Customer Focus:
  • Interacts with all departments in the plant that operate mobile equipment.
Relationships with Others Jobs:
  • Reports to the Quarry Manager
  • Works closely with other plant supervisors and plant coordinators, specifically the Maintenance Department.
  • Works closely with other local support services as required.

Qualifications:Education & Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience or significant industry experience.
Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mechanical knowledge of fixed and mobile plant
  • Knowledge of scheduling, planning and repair of various types of mobile and fixed plant equipment.
