Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Production Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering required Engineering Information deliverables (i.e. technical work instructions, bills of materials, drawings/sketches, etc.) to support all Electrical Repair/Installation activities for new build, conversion, or ship repair contracts.WHAT WE OFFER:

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop required information deliverables relating to electrical repair/installation activities in both ship repair projects and new construction;
  • Extract details of the agreed client specifications and scope of work to support the creation of the work breakdown structure (WBS), the development of work estimates, and the subsequent creation of efficient high-quality job cards (work packages) to support the detailed planning phase;
  • Assign and control engineering bills of material to effectively ensure that planning has clear visibility of required materials;
  • Ensure the delivery of all required drawings, sketches and other information accurately in quality and on time;
  • Provide support to any project controls activities as requested;
  • Provide information and data for the development of the estimate and tender as required;
  • Participate in supporting the creation of engineering information in support of electrical activities relating to subcontractors;
  • Ability to understand the production facilities and resources capacities such as: space constraints, equipment, qualified operators, and verify their availability in order to satisfy the project requirements;
  • Master the safety-related processes regarding on-board electrical activities e.g. lockout/tagout (LOTO), and provide clear identification and direction of the LOTO process to make a safe workplace;
  • Responsible for progress reporting, schedule updates, and communication of any issue relating to the timely creation of deliverables during the pre-planning phase of the project;
  • Provide reports and spreadsheets as required on work status;
  • Carry out project management tasks, such as:
    • Ensure compliance with agreed procedures for production engineering operations within Davie;
    • Ensure that all relevant scheduling and planning procedures and work instructions are available, understood, and implemented on the project;
    • Develop and maintain good communication/collaboration with Procurement, QC, Safety, Project Control and Production Departments;
    • Ensure the smooth flow of operations from engineering to production.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of 7 years in shipbuilding/ship repair or a combination of both (mandatory);
  • University and college degrees in related field of study;
  • Ability to work confidently and independently while prioritizing a large volume of work;
  • Fully bilingual in French and English;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Good knowledge of shipbuilding manufacturing processes is an asset;
  • Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the Federal Government Contract Security Program;
  • Familiarity with Lean principles and product-oriented construction strategies is an asset;
  • Experience working with ERMs and engineering activity databases is considered an asset.
