At LIHS we work and lead through our Core Values and require successful candidates to be familiar with these as we hire, review, develop and reward our people.Position OverviewAs the Family Violence Outreach Worker, you will be responsible for providing connection and support to non-residential females, 18 yrs and older, who have been impacted by relationship/family violence. In this role you will promote each women’s safety, strengths and goals through individualized support plans and services, empowering the women we serve to live independent, abuse-free lives with increased wellbeing and safety. As a dedicated professional, you are strongly committed to work that promotes the strengths and wellbeing of individuals impacted by interpersonal violence. As well, your proven time management and communication skills along with your strong ability to work independently will ensure your success in this dynamic and rewarding role. This position will run from January 2023 for approximately 6-12 months for a maternity leave coverage.As a Family Violence Outreach Worker, you will:

  • Develop and maintain an active Family Violence Outreach Program and caseload.
  • Build supportive connections with each client, promoting their trust and growth.
  • Assist clients to identify their strengths, needs and goals, and to create an individualized support plan, maintaining a continuum of support.
  • Assess client needs; safety, legal, support, health, education and facilitate the range of program components such as emotional support, safety planning, basic needs, legal/court support.
  • Provide family violence, strategies for healthy relationships and self-care information/education.
  • As requested, act as an advocate, and support referrals to relevant community services on client’s behalf.
  • Work collaboratively with referral partners to promote seamless services to clients and enhance partnerships with referral organizations
  • Coordinate, develop, and facilitate the Self-Empowerment for Women Program, Phase 1 & 2 and other community programming as identified.
  • Maintain a strong communication linkage with other LIHS service areas, identify opportunities for collaboration and client support.

  • Multi-task oriented, possess a positive attitude and work ethic; willingness to help wherever needed.
Experience and Competencies:
  • Post-secondary education and 2 years experience in a Social Work or other Human Services field.
  • Experience and/or education supporting vulnerable populations women experiencing domestic violence would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of interpersonal violence, trauma-sensitive practices, knowledge of strategies and supports for wellbeing and empowerment is a must.
  • Effective documentation and efficient use of Office 365. A valid drivers license combined with a 3-year clean driving history.
