We have established residences that not only meet their emotional and physical needs, but also nourish their social connections, individual dignity, and personal preferences.Summary of Position: A Life skills & Support Caseworker defines a clear set of goals and life skills themes to be covered, submits monthly reports including but not limited to the number of sessions, activities and various themes that were addressed provides leadership in maintaining satisfactory community relationships. Also, individual care and counselling, performs assessments, engages in community organizing, connects clients to local services and develops plans for personal improvement.Skills and Abilities: The knowledge, skills and abilities sought in candidates will include:Strong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with co-workers and residentsAbility to problem-solving and de-escalate crisisExperience with Individual, family, and group therapy practiceAbility to work a flexible scheduleWorking knowledge of clinical diagnoses for mental health populationComputer literacy and the ability to conduct data entryA caring personality with a thorough understanding of services offered and systems to followExperience in nutrition, menu planning and meal preparationAbility to make sound decisions under pressure and de-escalate crisisExcellent interpersonal and listening skills and help residents develop social skillsExercise Empathy, tact and patience and listen to residents without being judgmentalKeen social perceptiveness: the ability to understand why people react the way they doCritical thinking and complex problem-solving skillsMust possess time management skills and be able to work under pressureESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be responsible for supervision of residents served in a strength based, therapeutic environment that provides pro-social skills, cognitive behavioural approaches in conjunction with cultural awareness, case management plans, adult management assessments, motivation/encouragement, education and evaluation of adults, dynamic and static security to ensure safety of the community, adults and staff at the program.Accompanies residents on outings sch as appointments, shopping, and leisure activities.Assist residents to develop skills of independent living through our individual programs.Recommendation and assist residents with community programs and supportAssist residents with proper budget management and purchase of supplies, use a report for tracking.Program OperationsCase ManagementHouse OperationsCommunity RelationsPerform other related duties as assignedCertification & Qualifications:G Class driver's license (preferred) Vehicle required with appropriate insurance coverage.Must be able to work designated rotational shift schedule as assignedMust have minimum college diploma in Social Service Worker (SSW) or currently enrolled in SSW program, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Community Service Worker Diploma (CSW), Personal Support Worker Diploma (PSW);Minimum 1-2 years work experience in a residential group living setting;Experience working with individuals who display challenging behaviours;Ability to foster, establish and maintain effective relationships with clientsCrisis intervention, Anger Management and Problem Solving skills are an assetMotivational teachings, programming and teaching skills are helpfulOur Mandatory Requirements:Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check or willingness to obtain at own cost;Valid class G driver’s license (preferred), 5 years of clean driving abstract and proof of insurability as a driverMust complete onboarding documents upon hire.Standard First Aid and CPRCOVID-19 Considerations:Yes, PPE provided and additional safety measures in place.The Hintons’ Placeis an equal opportunity employer.Please Note:The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to lifting (up to 25 kg), bending, twisting, reaching, sitting or standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, pulling, and moving constantly throughout the shift.Please Note: Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
