An international destination with easy access to its binational U.S. neighbour New York State, Niagara attracts over 14 million visitors annually, as well as a steady stream of new residents and businesses.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY - ROAD MARKER (SUMMER)Apply pavement markings on roadways and/or parking lots by means of zone marking or truck mounted Line Striper attachment. Work must be performed in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, Public Commercial Vehicle Act (PVCA), and Regional guidelines. Clean, load, and maintain pavement-marking equipment, tools, and materials.EDUCATIONCompletion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 1 year in a similar environment.
  • Signs & Pavement Marking Technician Level I, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Certificate is preferred
  • Certificate in Industrial Forklift Operation is preferred
  • Certificate in Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations is preferred
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid is preferred
  • Certification in WHIMIS is preferred
SKILLS
  • Must maintain a Level I Signs & Pavement Marking Technician, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Certificate. If uncertified, certification must be completed as soon as practicable.
  • Must maintain a valid certificate for WHIMIS, First Aid, and C.P.R., Materials Handling and Transportation of Dangerous Goods. If uncertified, certification must be completed as soon as practicable.
  • Must possess ability to interpret blueprints or drawings and operational equipment manuals for pavement marking application purposes and equipment maintenance.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment related to pavement marking operations.
  • Must be capable of working independently without direct supervision.
  • Must possess working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Must be familiar with the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM).
  • Familiarity with the Regional roads system is an asset.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted class "G" license for the class of the vehicle operated.
  • A valid "DZ" license is preferred
Seasonal Job DescriptionTruck Driver (Winter)JOB SUMMARYOperates trucks over 11,000 kg. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), including attachments, according to the Highway Traffic Act, Public Commercial Vehicle Act (PCVA.) and Regional guidelines. Installs and removes attachments. When not operating truck performs other duties such as paperwork, housekeeping, and various road maintenance activities.QUALIFICATIONSEducational
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years in a similar environment.
Other Competencies or Skills Required
  • Must successfully complete Regional Administered Operator Training/Testing.
  • Must possess basic mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic knowledge and skills to operate the above mentioned equipment.
  • Must complete W.H.M.I.S training.
  • Must possess a valid class DZ driver’s license.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid is an asset.
Special Conditions
  • It is the employee’s responsibility to possess and maintain a valid and restriction-free driver’s license of appropriate class to carry out the duties of the job.
