An international destination with easy access to its binational U.S. neighbour New York State, Niagara attracts over 14 million visitors annually, as well as a steady stream of new residents and businesses.Please note that the Niagara Region requires that all newly hired employees are to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired and provide proof of full vaccination, or provide proof of a bona fide medical or Human Rights Code exemption on a form issued from and approved by Niagara Region.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYProvide individual, couple, family, and group counselling services for persons with severe and persistent mental health concerns. Provide crisis stabilization, treatment, case management and case consultation services. Provide social work intervention and treatment and act as a professional resource to a diverse, interdisciplinary team. Provide screening and psychosocial mental health assessments to individuals referred to the program for the purpose of triage, determining service needs and eligibility status. Act as an external resource to other mental health and community service providers.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATIONMasters degree in social work requiredMust be registered as a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) at the time of applicationFormal training in mental health assessment and a working knowledge of mental health diagnosis are requiredKNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCEMinimum of 3 years clinical social work experience in assessment and counselling in a mental health setting is requiredClinical experience in community mental health preferredFormal training in evidence based best practice is preferred. Examples include: cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, group psychotherapy, family therapy, trauma therapy, addictions and concurrent disorders treatmentWorking knowledge of relevant provincial legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Child and Family Services Act) pertaining to services provided by a community agencyKnowledge of community resources relevant to the provision of mental health and related servicesSKILLSMust demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenComputer literacy is requiredSPECIAL CONDITIONSMust provide own transportation and be able to travel throughout the Niagara Region to other offices, work locations, or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons. Employees who use their personal vehicles for approved Region business shall ensure they are adequately insured with their personal insurance carrier.
