An international destination with easy access to its binational U.S. neighbour New York State, Niagara attracts over 14 million visitors annually, as well as a steady stream of new residents and businesses.Please note that the Niagara Region requires that all newly hired employees are to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired and provide proof of full vaccination, or provide proof of a bona fide medical or Human Rights Code exemption on a form issued from and approved by Niagara Region.Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Niagara Region has a full-time, paid Waste Management (WM) Project Coordination Intern (recent graduate) position available from January to December with the WM division of the Public Works Department. This is an excellent learning opportunity for a recent graduate or current student enrolled in an Engineering, Construction, Environmental Geoscience or related field of study, who is available to work from January to December next year.The WM Project Coordination Intern will perform a variety of tasks, including:Assist with work and coordination related to construction contracts, such as requests for proposal, tendering, contract administration and gathering related informationAssist with asset management work, condition assessments, compiling data, etc. and updating WMs Asset Management DatabaseWorking with engineering drawings, site plans and other technical documentsAssist with applicable AutoCAD and ArcGIS workMaintain and organize records, as well as, research and pull historical information for inclusion in purchasing documentsAssist Project Manager in managing the WM Capital Budget processAssist other WM Staff on an as needed basisEDUCATION

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalency (i.e., GED), plus
  • Must have graduated within the last 12 months (or will graduate prior to the posting) from a post-secondary Engineering, Construction or Environmental or related program
