Job Description

This position is for anyone with at least some training in the back kitchen. This position is for a position in a Greek restaurant. You will learn to prepare authentic Greek recipes.Regular Duties:

  • Assist cooks in preparation where and when needed;
  • Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood;
  • Ensure that food is properly stored and handled at all times by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed;
  • Prompt cleaning of any spills or leaks as requested by the culinary team;
  • General garbage removal and recycling of cardboard and cans a minimum of once each shift. More often if required;
  • Responsible for assisting the cook with the daily preparation of raw products and meat for service ie. Peeled potatoes, carrots, onions, and some meats and fish.
  • Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming stock;
  • Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Head Chef and Food safety;
  • Daily sweeping and mopping of service coolers and floors.
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.
