Job Description

Heat Treat OperatorBoart Longyear is accepting resumes for the role of Heat Treat Operator based in Mississauga, Ontario. In this high-volume production environment, Boart Longyear is committed to high quality, safety, environmental and continuous improvement practices. Applicants should be able to demonstrate shared values in this area.Job Responsibilities:

  • Startup, shutdown, and operation of industrial carburizing furnaces
  • Monitoring furnace temperature, gas flow, and carburization factor
  • Loading/unloading parts scheduled for heat treatment into furnace fixtures
  • Preparing/staging incoming production parts scheduled for heat treatment
  • Use overhead bridge crane and counterbalance forklift to move product through the heat treatment department
  • Wear appropriate PPE, including heat resistant jacket and gloves as required
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain the safety of heat treatment equipment
  • This position requires ongoing physical demands including lifting, bending, walking, standing.
Skills:
  • Have the knowledge of metallurgies and heat treatment of metal materials.
  • Be familiar with the heat treatment process and equipment.
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
Shift Work
  • Candidates must be able to adapt to 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts
  • Candidates must also be able to adapt to a 24/7 shift schedule.
Education and Experience:
  • College diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of related experience
