Job Description

We currently have a Community Behaviour Support Coach position available with our Community Behaviour Support Program in the Durham region. Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager – CYMH Programs, the Community Behaviour Support Coach provides services in office, community, and home settings. The Community Behaviour Support Coach provides transition support for clients and families in intensive services to enhance caregiver skill development and the youth’s prosocial behaviours to improve overall quality of life. The Community Behaviour Support Coach also conducts observations, behavioural assessments, consultation, and training to assist the clinical team in understanding the function of behaviours and needs of complex youth. The Community Behaviour Support Coach will work closely with the interdisciplinary teams to support clients and families using a wraparound approach. This position is covered by the Communications Workers of America, Local 30248.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct observations, data-collection, and behavioural assessments to support the clinical team with treatment planning
  • Coach clients and caregivers in generalizing skills learned in treatment in their natural environments (e.g., home, school, community)
  • Provide behaviorally based interventions to youth and their families
  • Conduct school observations and attend meetings to support with sharing strategies and providing a bridge between treatment, school, and home for clients as clinically indicated
  • Run workshops/group trainings with Clinical Therapists or independently as necessary and within scope
  • Regularly meet with and discuss treatment plan and transition support requirements with clinical team
  • Complete documentation to meet agency and accreditation standards
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Psychology (or related field) or Diploma in Behavioral Sciences Technology
  • Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board OR Member of relevant regulatory College with education in behavioural science and practical experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience recording and analyzing data, conducting behavioural assessments, and developing data-driven treatment plans
  • Prior community/home or school-based experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with teams and families
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload
  • Experience with parent/mediator training
  • Experience working with families experiencing parenting challenges and child mental health and/or behavioural concerns
  • Ability to effectively deescalate and manage crisis and conflict situations in the moment
  • Familiarity with fundamentals of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, parent management training, behaviour management, and Triple P would be an asset
  • Ability to work with youth and families in a diverse and culturally inclusive and supportive manner
  • Enthusiasm, versatility and adaptability skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Travel is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars
