Job Description

LAKERIDGE HEALTHPHARMACY SUPERVISORPHARMACY SERVICESPERMANENT FULL-TIME8-hour Days/Evenings/Weekends/On-call shifts; subject to changeLakeridge Health Oshawa (main site)**This is a multi-site position requiring work at all Lakeridge Health Hospital Sites**SALARY RANGE: $39.081 - $48.831 per hour2200004104DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and supervision of all operational activities within Pharmacy Services and works in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team to ensure that all services provided by Pharmacy Services are based on regulatory requirements, best practices and align with the hospitals strategic plan. The pharmacy supervisor will oversee the frontline Pharmacy Technicians and supports staff in day-to-day functions and addresses any issues related to medication procurement, preparation, dispensing, delivery, sterile and non-sterile compounding, best possible medication history (BPMH) and pharmacy automation.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, develop, mentor and train new staff and monitor performance;
  • Review workload, job rotations and staffing complement to ensure the demands of the department are met and in compliance with the collective agreement;
  • Oversee the daily operations of the dispensary and medication distribution system;
  • Support ongoing quality initiatives related to pharmacy services including the establishment and monitoring of various indicators and outcome measures to promote excellent care;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of drug related guidelines, policies and procedures;
  • Supports the development, training, and evolution of pharmacy automation;
  • Submit and review incident reports, identify trends and develop strategies to prevent medication errors;
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to ensure all operations meet regulatory and safety standards (i.e., ISMP, NAPRA, OCP, Accreditation standards);
  • Perform professional duties of a Pharmacy Technician in order to maintain professional standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists;
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the health care team to support Lakeridge Healths strategic directions and Pharmacy Services goals and objectives;
  • Represent the department in various departmental and/or hospital committees, councils or task forces;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Pharmacy Services or Pharmacy Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Education Program from an accredited college;
  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists;
  • Minimum of 5 years of hospital pharmacy practice;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills, leadership experience is an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and work independently;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflict while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism;
  • Experience using aseptic technique, drug dispensing systems and equipment, pharmaceutical compounding and packaging, pharmaceutical calculations, working knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology;
  • Experience in Pharmacy automation systems;
  • Knowledge of legislation and pharmacy related regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and leading safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;
  • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
