Job Description

Under general direction from the Operations Manager or their designate, the Lab Pack Technician will support our commercial lines of business out of our Pickering and Bowmanville sites. The Technician will be primarily responsible for providing technical assistance to our team members on customer’s job site and the facilities in Pickering and Bowmanville.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to customers via site visits, sampling and assisting with the classification of waste materials
  • Review safety data sheets and perform analyses to aid in the classification of waste materials
  • Perform lab packing and de-packing duties including identifying, segregating, classifying, consolidating, packaging and labeling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transport
  • Ensure waste inventory is correct and that containers are shippable in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to conclude job and transport materials including acquiring signatures as required
  • Load, secure and transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials
  • Assist with un-loading and unloading of materials
  • Assist other facility operators as needed
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems and helping with special projects
  • Perform general laboratory and housekeeping duties including reporting analyses and coordination with production personnel
  • Complete Certificates of Disposal and Summaries of Analysis as required
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician or Technologist, Chemistry or related Diploma
  • Previous laboratory, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset
  • Competent computer skills (MS Windows and Office)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Propane forklift experience/certification is an asset
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends and occasional overnight assignments
  • Ability to lift upwards of 22kg lbs.
  • Valid G License, AZ/DZ license an asset (Good driver abstract/CVOR abstract)
  • Knowledge of TDG, Reg. 347 and Ontario Health and Safety Act an asset
