About Us: The Saint John Multicultural and Newcomers Resource Centre Inc. (SJMNRC) is a non-profit organization that provides an integrated approach to services for newcomers. Reporting to the Managing Director of the Saint John Multicultural and Newcomers Resource Centre (SJMNRC), the Communications Specialist will contribute to the planning and delivery of external and internal communications activities as well as organize and manage major events. They will carve out new pathways and relationships to share messaging and content among diverse audiences, media, online, cultural influencers, third-party organizations, as well as existing stakeholders, key partners and volunteers.The Communications Specialist will: · Promote the organization’s programs through social media, email marketing…· Enhance the flow, repurposing, and dissemination of messages through internal & external channels.· Strategize, create, and engage non-traditional contacts across sectors with their own distribution channels in their sharing of content.· Research and recommend strategic opportunities/track and epost on the effectiveness of all common types.· Serve as a contact/liaison between the SJMNRC and outside communicators.· Provide monitoring, valuation, and report on communication activities.· Relate to needs and timelines of key contacts, and tailor messages in the best interests of each audience.· Proactively seeks out opportunities and contributes ideas to effectively enhance the SJMNRC brand and broaden SJMNRC visibility.· Cross-checks the work of others, and ensures consistent branding open pathways to the swift creation and delivery of messages.· Respects confidentiality – with utmost care and privacy for members and partnering organizations.· Prioritizing projects, maintaining organized workflow, meeting commitments and deadlines to others such as the submission of articles, weekly Newsletter and Advertisements.· Edit and proofread all marketing materials such as brochures, postcards, emails, posters, press release.· Other duties as assignedMajor Events · Work with the SJMNRC staff to develop major events and activities that are relevant to the organization mission·· coordinate, plan, and the implement a variety of special events and activities to promote diversity and multiculturalism for the SJMNRC· Participate with organizations in the Saint John area to plan events/activities to celebrate Canadian culture and good citizenship values.· Recruit a variety of stakeholders, community partners, and volunteers to successfully deliver event outcomes· Other duties as assignedQualifications & Experience · A minimum of one year’s related experience is essential, preferably within the field of Communications, Media, Public Relations or experience working with newcomers.· The ideal candidate will have one to three years of experience in relevant areas such as public relations, communications, marketing, and/or journalism as well Post-secondary education. Related experience an asset. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate an ability to work under tight deadlines, to develop creative and cost effective promotional strategies, to work with different cultures and to prepare high quality written proposals. Strong oral and written abilities, web-site management skills, and demonstrated interest in multicultural and immigration issues are required.· Ability to work in English. Working knowledge of French would be considered an asset.· Any additional language(s) would be considered an asset.· Experience of working in a multicultural environment is an asset.· An understanding of the immigration process and experience is an asset.· An understanding of and/or experience of promoting diversity in the workplace· Experience of Adobe design programs (AI, photoshop)Working ConditionsWork is carried out mainly at Suite 100, 75 Prince William Street.The communication specialist must be:· willing to work offsite, as required;· flexible with regard to working hours when required;· willing and available to work occasional evenings and weekends;Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $41,550.00-$43,500.00 per yearBenefits:
