Job Description

MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TEAM LEADERThe Opportunity:We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join our dynamic team at Irving Tissue based in Saint John, New Brunswick.As a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you will supervise a crew of approximately 14 mechanical tradespeople throughout the mill, providing leadership in the areas of safety, housekeeping, productivity, quality and best practices. Your day-to-day work will also include facilitating problem-solving and troubleshooting activities and working collaboratively with team members in all departments. As a member of the maintenance team, you will also have opportunities to get involved with cross-functional strategic initiatives and training & development activities.Who We Are:Our team operates within a highly technical, fast paced, competitive business and is part of an integrated forest products value chain under J.D. Irving Tissue produces quality parent rolls of tissue, providing the strength and softness that have made our leading consumer and private label brands the choice of customers throughout North America.You Have:

  • Completed post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent, or Journeyman Status in a mechanical trade.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Pulp & Paper or other industrial environments.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
  • Safety leadership knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Maintenance Management Professional or work towards such a designation would be considered an asset.
  • Desire to lead people.
  • Desire to grow and develop your leadership and technical capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.
