Job Description

We are hiring for a number of positions with an expected start date in December, 2022. This posting will stay open until filled. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.Kelburn Clinic is a progressive, interdisciplinary addictions recovery centre dedicated to excellence in state-of-the-art treatment modalities. Our 12-bed facility is located on 40 acres of property surrounded by trees, walking trails, and a 9-hole golf course. Services include in-house residential treatment, detox, after-care, and family support programs with the opportunity to develop an outpatient program. This is a permanent, full-time (40 hrs/week) position.Reporting to the Executive Chef and Clinic Manager, the cook will be responsible for cooking and serving gourmet meals as well as educating clients on the value of proper nutrition during recovery. This role assists the Executive Chef in all areas of the kitchen including food production standards, kitchen sanitation, and dining room service. Cooks are responsible for delivering 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for up to 12 clients and 6 staff.Abilities and Attributes:

  • Conduct day-to-day activities in the kitchen including preparing food from pre-planned menus
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean, organized, prepped and well presented at all times
  • Prepare, season and cook food as directed, meeting dietary restrictions where required
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Carry out opening and closing duties of the kitchen
  • The ability to manage several tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Assist in volume food preparation for special events
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Prior experience in an addiction recovery setting is an asset
Credentials include:
  • Line cook: 1 year (preferred)
  • Prep Cook: 1 year (preferred)
  • Must possess Manitoba Food Handler’s Certification (prior to start date)
Applicants require a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
