We give back through charitable donations, fundraisers and sponsorships.Job DescriptionThe General Litigation Assistant supports the day-to-day activities of the lawyer(s) assigned. This role is responsible for document preparation and general practice administration. Responsible for filing documentation, data entry and data management, correspondence, calendar management and emails.Key responsibilities include:

  • provide support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including scheduling, greeting clients, file management, documentation management, etc.
  • preparation of account related documents (i.e. docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.)
  • facilitate professional communication between lawyer(s), clients and external contacts
  • filing documents at various levels of court as required
Qualifications
  • 1 to 3 years general litigation experience
  • thorough and current knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Ontario Court Practice Directions
  • strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and legal software (PC Law)
  • demonstrated experience providing administrative support in an environment with a variety of functions
  • excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and risk-assess high volumes of work, responding to shifting priorities as necessary
  • ability to take initiative and demonstrate accountability, flexibility and adaptability
  • advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong aptitude for detail
  • decisive and able to work with minimal direction/supervision
  • enjoy working in a busy team environment
