Our team of 550+ staff see clients virtually and physically from our downtown Toronto and Oakville clinics.Medical Device Reprocessing TechnicianJob Status: CasualThe Role:We are recruiting for a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician for the Endoscopy and Sterilization Team at the Medcan Clinic. We are seeking a client focused professional with a great attitude. This position requires a medical background, strong communication skills, high energy and enthusiasm, an attention to detail and an outstanding level of client service skills.Here are the main functions of the role:

  • Mandatory – must have completed a Medical Device Reprocessing Program and received the Certificate from CSA.
  • Autoclave management and control of all medical and laboratory equipment by collecting, cleaning, sterilizing and repacking of devices.
  • Responsible for the decontamination and high-level disinfection of endoscopes; including adapters, water bottles, reusable suction canisters and reusable suction traps; monitoring biological indicators, documentation of scope use, coordination of endoscope repair, assist with daily cleaning activities. Occasionally assist nursing staff in the care of patients on the endoscopy unit.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of the endoscopes passing leak testing standards and proper cleaning.
  • Keeps track of cleaning supply inventory and requests replacement when needed.
  • Coordinates arrangements for a loaner endoscope and sending an endoscope for repair as needed
  • Occasionally assists nursing staff in the care of patients within the Endoscopy department
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and written.
  • Ability to function in stressful environment.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures set out by Medcan Clinic.
  • Performs house-keeping duties within the department as necessary
  • Maintains a professional, well-kept appearance, according to policy
Experience and Skills:
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • CDMRT (Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician) certificate
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word and Outlook
This is a casual position that will be scheduled as needed during business hours Monday through Saturday.
