The Knowledge Translation (KT) Program at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital is currently looking for Research Coordinators to join the dynamic and growing team. The primary role of the Research Coordinator is to support implementation of an intervention to improve response to COVID-19 in long-term care facilities. Currently we are seeking individuals to take on a full time (1.0 FTE) 12 month contract to support the Team of Implementation, Evaluation and Sustainability (TIES) within the Knowledge Translation Program with this task. We are seeking an individual with experience in applied research, knowledge facilitation/mobilization, and a strong interest in evidence implementation.Examples of the kind of work required include: building strong supportive relationships amongst diverse long-term care stakeholders, supporting homes to implement infection prevention and control practices, supporting the research team to evaluate implementation efforts using qualitative and quantitative research skills. The position requires working with a large number of stakeholder groups; therefore, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. This position will require the research coordinator to travel to long-term care facilities in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions (e.g., Hamilton, Niagara).The successful candidate will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine via UHT to facilitate their on site work.This position will offer the successful applicant a challenging and rewarding environment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in the implementation of an initiative to support long-term care facilities’ response to and preparation for the COVID-19 pandemic via ongoing tailored support using established methodsWork collaboratively with key stakeholders in research, hospitals, and long-term care facilities to support the tailoring and implementation of infection prevention and control practices in a variety of settings, including iteratively updating support plansOversee and undertake collection and management of study-related data – ensuring quality controlMonitor the progress of project activities; develop and maintain records of project activities and prepare periodic reports as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies; assist with sampling and training of onsite dried blood spot sample collection (no immunology experience required)Maintain data documentation, physical and logical storage of records, in accordance with hospital policies and relevant privacy regulationsCollaborate with team members to analyze study-related data, write and edit presentations, reports, proposals, and publicationsTravel to long-term care facilities to provide support, conduct needs assessment, data collection, etc.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree requiredMaster’s Degree in a related discipline or 5 years in relevant research coordinator experience preferredMinimum 2 years of experience conducting research and/or supporting knowledge mobilization/implementation projectsExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to prioritize and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to work independentlyAbility to work collaboratively in a diverse team environmentAbility to adapt to changes in project directionAbility to rapidly adapt program activities to address challengesStrong problem-solving and conflict resolution skillsAbility to quickly learn new content related to standards of care and ideal healthcare practicesMeticulous attention to detail and capable of independent decision-makingExpertise in plain language writing is an assetAccess to a vehicle or other transportation purposes to independently travel between long-term care sites in the Greater Toronto AreaCompetency in the science and practice of knowledge translation is an assetExperience in conducting qualitative interviews is an assetExperience with engaging health decision-makers, clinicians, patients and community members in researchAbility to work from home to comply with COVID-19 measures (e.g., access to phone, internet, etc.)
