We’re a place where you just might be a perfect fit.Our Team:The Financial Services department provides services to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and reporting systems and to safeguard the assets of the City for the citizens of Airdrie, our internal customers and regulatory bodies.The Opportunity:As part of the Accounting Services team, the Accounting Administrator is responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties for both the City and its subsidiaries, which includes the processing of invoices, cheque runs and related correspondence. In addition, this position also provides account reconciliations for the City’s subsidiaries.

  • You will be responsible for processing and managing the disbursement of City payables, including:
o Processing invoices and cheque requisitions including hold backso Completing cheque runso Monitoring accounts to ensure payments are up to dateo Corresponding with vendors/City staff and responding to inquirieso Reviewing and verifying invoices and cheque requests and auditing for policy compliance
  • You will be responsible for the completion of full cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties for the City subsidiaries, including:
o Processing A/R and A/Po Completing cheque runso Creating and maintaining vendor fileso Completing deposits
  • Completing account reconciliations for City subsidiaries including bank accounts, control accounts and balance sheet accounts
  • Providing back-up support and coverage for the City Accounts Receivable Administrator (non-subsidiary)
  • Monitoring various email inboxes and disbursing emails to appropriate staff
  • Assisting with the external audit as needed
You Bring:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting such as an Accounting Diploma, Accounts Payable or Bookkeeping certification or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of accounts payable/receivable and general accounting experience
  • Prior experience in account reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Previous experience in Great Plains or equivalent software is an asset
  • Experience working within SharePoint would be an asset
  • Municipal experience would be an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service
  • The ability to work independently in a deadline driven environment
