Job Description

Job DescriptionAPARC – Airdrie, ABAlberta Pound and Rescue Centres is now accepting applications for a Permanent Casual Kennel AttendantA Kennel Attendant is responsible for the day to day animal care operations of the facility. This position is expected to uphold animal wellness, facility sanitation, and facilitate positive customer service.The ideal candidate must possess a positive attitude, excellent client service and interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, the ability to multitask and work efficiently under minimal supervision. Experience with animal husbandry would be an asset.‪Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for customer service and customer care
  • Handling fractious animals
  • Processing animal intakes into the facility.
  • Processing payments and animal reclaims as they exit the facility.
  • Data entry, animal licensing and computer transactions .
  • Taking directions from the Assistant Manager or other management staff
  • Sanitation and care of all animals in the facility.
  • Organizing/attending fundraising events.
  • Assisting in the ongoing creation of new programs as needed to increase adoption, funds, and improve other aspects of the facility.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours and shift work. APARC operates 365 days a year.
  • Working closely with various law enforcement agencies
‪Qualifications Required:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalency is preferred.
  • Unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License (Non GDL)
  • Animal Care Experience is an asset
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in computer programs such as Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Outlook 365 and operational knowledge of Mac computers.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing.
  • Ability to take initiative, work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and customer care environments.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse staff, volunteers and community in a professional, courteous and tactful manner
  • Strong problem solving skills – focusing on finding solutions to problems and challenges.
  • The ability to remain pleasant and calm even in stressful situations as well as the ability to ask appropriate questions to gather information along with the ability to feel and show empathy for others.
  • Must have a clean driving and criminal record history
