Job Description

Position SummaryReporting to the Profit Centre Manager, the Counter Sales Representative is responsible for interacting with customers at the counter, over the phone and by email. The Counter Sales Representative will provide the highest level of customer service by maintaining, stocking, and keeping a clean counter sales area as well as provide support to customers by answering questions, picking, and entering orders and following up on any backorders. You will work with customers to generate and close sales and meet or exceed sales and gross profit targets while building long lasting loyal customer relationships.Responsibilities

  • Assist customers who purchase material at the Profit Centre counters
  • Research product for customers and provide recommendations on our assortment of product
  • Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter
  • Process sales orders and turn quotations into orders though customer interactions, primarily over the phone
  • Use interpersonal skills to strengthen relationships with existing customers and increase market share
  • Expedite customer material with vendors when required
  • Inform the Buyer when stocks levels are low
  • Follow up on backorders with vendors and provide customers accurate delivery dates
  • Process returns and warranty claims to customers both on account and cash sales including paperwork in compliance with all procedures
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma – College and/or University degree an asset
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience at a plumbing wholesale counter
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Outstanding customer service and telephone skills
  • Ability to prospect new customers and increase sales with existing accounts
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational abilities; must be able to multitask and balance many different deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Able to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders
  • Intermediate math skills
