Job Description

Position: Dispatch – Customer ServiceReports to: Airdrie RMX Plant ManagerRegion: 4C30Pay Grade: HourlyDepartment: ProductionDate: January 3, 2023Location: Airdrie RMX PlantProduct: RMXOverviewThe role of Ready Mix Dispatch is responsible for the primary day-to-day delivery of Ready Mix Concrete to job sites (home owner and other clients in the industry). This role is also responsible for customer relationships, giving great service with a friendly attitude to ensure customers receive a high-level delivery and product from TANAS. This is a customer-facing role that requires a service-oriented mindset and a highly professional approach. The Dispatcher schedules and dispatches orders, providing excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction, minimize delivery costs and promote company sales. Communicates effectively and respectfully with drivers, field staff and plant teams, through means of text, GPS, telephone, and email.Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all TANAS safety policies and procedures.
  • Dispatch approximately 15 - 20 trucks for 1 plant location in the Airdrie and Greater Calgary market.
  • Coordinate driver and QA/QC issues pertaining to active orders communicating to appropriate parties as required.
  • Assignment of drivers to appropriate trucks with the support of Supervisor.
  • Support the team (Plant Manager, Order Taker, and Batcher) as required. Order taking with potential to review late calls and move up orders when appropriate.
  • Documenting any and all issues regarding active orders.
  • Providing sales and billing coordinator information pertinent to billing accuracy.
  • Entering appropriate sundries on active orders.
  • Review orders to make sure they are accurate and identify if they contain any special conditions.
  • Inform customers of all relevant company policies including will calls, additional products and driver responsibilities.
  • Inform customer of warnings concerning product hazards, load limits, vehicle weights and limitations.
  • Provide support and knowledge for drivers; directions, site details and project information.
  • Monitor driver performance, and advise supervisor of any issues.
  • Proactively contact customers when orders are not going to be as scheduled. Contact customer with as much advance notice as possible.
  • Assign drivers other duties when it is known that they will not be required for an extended period of time (i.e. wash/clean truck).
  • Ensure that trucks are properly proportioned throughout the plant network to ensure plant load points are being utilized.
  • Monitor customer pour rates and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Report any GPS issues to Supervisor.
  • Develop solutions to problems as they arise (rejected loads or threats of rejected loads, trucks stuck on site for too long, etc.).
  • Open to a flexible working schedule (weekends included). This position may require an individual to work different shifts as well as take calls after hours if required.
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Experience in a related field preferred.
  • Understanding of building materials industry, including product knowledge, an asset.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite of products.
