Divisional Supervisor RVS Learning Supports - Inclusive EducationRocky View Schools (RVS) serves the educational needs of over 25,000 students within 54 diverse schools. Reporting to the Director of Learning Supports, the Divisional Supervisor RVS Learning Supports - Inclusive Education works as part of a collaborative team to provide leadership and direction in the design and implementation of inclusive educational programming for all students, including those with additional and exceptional learning and social emotional needs across Rocky View Schools.Responsibilities:Provide educational and instructional leadership in the implementation of inclusive educational programming to meet the needs of diverse learners across the school division kindergarten through grade 12Consult and collaborate in monitoring and evaluating the provision of equitable access to evidence-based services and interventions across the divisionSupport inter-disciplinary teams with the consistent implementation of RVS’s continuum of supports and services designed to meet the social/emotional, behavioural, and academic needs of all students across the divisionSupport the equitable access and distribution of referrals, and alignment of multi-tiered services provided across the division for the purposes of service delivery accountability reportingEstablish positive working relationships and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams, with school-based teams, external agencies, and provincial associations and support servicesSupport Rocky View Schools' compliance with Alberta Education legislation and directivesLead the design and delivery of professional learning for middle and high schools related to teaching to diversity, differentiated instruction and assessment, supporting social emotional health and wellnessSupport the transition of students with additional needs school to school and school to communityReview and assess divisional and school-based learning supports service delivery frameworks, specifically in middle and high schools, offer recommendations and support the collaborative implementation of changesSkills:Ability to communicate and demonstrate a high standard of ethical practiceAbility to conduct oneself using open communication, trust, mutual respect and dignityAbility to collaborate with divisional professionals, families and community agencies regarding issues that affect system processesUnderstanding of Alberta Education provincial legislation and RVS divisional policies and practicesUnderstanding of documentation, Pupil File Guidelines and FOIPKnowledge of the history of Inclusive Education in AlbertaUnderstanding of research related to educational changeKnowledge of medical, mental health and learning diagnoses and the implications for learning, programming and service deliveryKnowledge of diverse technologies to enhance programmingFamiliar with system-wide implementation of complex medical supports, mental health supports, and positive behaviour interventions and supportsDeep knowledge and understanding of adolescent development, behaviour, mental health, social, emotional and academic learning needsExperience implementing a range of strategies that promote positive behaviour, crisis intervention and family involvement and support in middle and high schoolEducation/Experience:Bachelor of EducationMasters or PhD in inclusive education, psychology, counselling or related fieldMinimum of five years' experience working with children, adolescents and familiesMinimum of two years of leadership experienceKnowledge and experience in teaching and working with students with diverse social/emotional, behavioural and academic needs, particularly adolescentsExperience in effective case management with a continuum of learning supportsSuccessful experience working in an educational setting and multi-disciplinary teamsThe successful candidate must possess, or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and provide Human Resources with an original of their Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) document.The successful candidate must also submit a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of employment.Please attach your resume and cover letter, quoting job code #3043791 on or before 4:30 pm on June 24, 2021.
