Job Description

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression, gas processing, and heavy oil facilities, and is actively advancing the development of products related to the decarbonization of energy production. By integrating comprehensive engineering services and first-in-class modular fabrication capacity with complete construction services, Propak designs and builds industry-leading hydrocarbon processing facilities for installation around the world.The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment. The candidate will ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations in accordance with company policies and government standards and codes. This position requires experience with electrical and instrumentation construction, commissioning and facility maintenance involving electrical equipment, controls equipment, instrumentation, measurement, and control valves.Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation equipment on oil and gas and related process equipment
  • Pre-commission and commission control system panels and associated electrical panels
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and process control equipment
  • Coordinate and execute LOTO and follow all specified safety practices
  • Working knowledge in Permit to Work System, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment, and confined space systems
  • Consult manufacturers manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures
  • Use and maintain pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing devices to inspect and test instrument and system operation, and diagnose faults
  • Perform detailed planning, scheduling, cost estimation to perform maintenance work.
  • Consult with and advise process operators, Field Engineers, and OEM Engineers
  • Repair, maintain and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Able to work on or with more advanced systems such as Compressor PLC control panels, RTU’s, Analyzers, BMS, and production facility equipment
  • Knowledge of Gas Detection, LEL Detection and Fire Detection controllers and sensors.
  • Respond to emergency E&I events
  • Interpret and use appropriate CSA, ISA, ABSA, and API installation standards and practices
Qualifications:
  • Dual Ticketed Journeyman Red Seal Certification in Instrumentation and Electrical is preferred
  • Journeyman Red Seal Certification in Instrumentation or Journeyman Red Seal Certification in Electrical
  • Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology is considered an asset
  • 8+ years previous experience as an E&I Technician in a maintenance, commissioning or field construction role
  • Previous maintenance services experience required (e.g. steady state, turnaround, shutdown, outage, etc.).
  • Candidates must have their H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, ESC Fall Protection, and CSTS 2020 certificates
  • Ability to read P&IDs, Instrument Indexes, Cause & Effect diagrams, and Control Narratives
  • Instrumentation Measurement experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience with control systems, measurement instrumentation, industry regulations and associated measurement standards
  • Experience with Allen Bradley and Emerson DeltaV control systems
  • Experience configuring and commissioning with Allen-Bradley and Eaton VFD’s
