Job Description

SUMMARY: Connect Behaviour provides consultation and therapy services in diverse formats including but not limited to home-based, group-based, and/or internet-based programming. Family Coaches will help families create and maintain change by working to build routines and positive behavioural change through the recommendations of the therapists.JOB DUTIES:

  • Report to the director of Connect Behaviour or their designate.
  • Maintain accurate notes.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with families and therapists.
  • Complete timesheets and invoices accurately, and submit them by the designated date.
  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar with working hours.
  • Know when medical or incident reports need to be completed, how to complete and submit them, and do so in a timely manner.
  • Communicate any urgent matters to the Clinical Coordinator immediately.
  • Communicate with the Therapist(s) on the contract to book appointments with family, and attend booked appointments.
  • Within the home setting, the Family Coach will be responsible for:
1. Daily tracking of goals and level of prompting at least once a week, including anecdotal notes2. Facilitating communication with the team and family3. Fading back when appropriate to foster the family’s independence4. Ensuring strategies are reviewed with the Therapist(s) on the contract prior to implementation5. Consistently reviewing progress with regard to the ISP goals6. Ensuring that strategies for goal areas are being modeled and addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum high school diploma or GED and 2 years of direct child care experience preferred.
  • Current Criminal Records Check (ePic with vulnerable sector).
  • Current First Aid certification required.
  • Experience working with children with special needs and/or medically complex children.
  • Ideal candidates will have excellent organizational skills, be proficient in communication, interact professionally with both parents and staff, and excel at engaging children of all abilities in activity and play while incorporating developmentally appropriate goals.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Federal and Provincial Health Information Systems.
  • Must be professional at all times.
  • Must be willing to take professional development/skill upgrade opportunities.
The ideal candidate for this position is equipped with a background in human services, with some coaching experience. This role requires self-awareness and a willingness to challenge personal and societal narratives regarding disability. An intersectional frame of reference would be an asset. Passion for working with children and supporting families is paramount. The ability to be accountable to your own schedule, have flexibility, and work independently will be key to the success of any Connect Behaviour Family Coach. Individuals with direct, and collaborative communication styles thrive in this role.Contract length: 12 monthsPart-time hours: 20-40 per weekJob Types: Full-time, Part-time, TemporarySalary: From $20.00 per hourCOVID-19 considerations:The organization is currently participating in the provincial asymptomatic testing program, providing staff with tests and rigorous program policies related to Covid safety.Licence/Certification:
