We’re a place where you just might be a perfect fit.Our Team:Water Services provides, operates, maintains, repairs and inspects the existing water distribution, sanitary collection and storm water conveyance systems to supply quality water and reliable collection of wastewater and storm runoff for the residents and businesses of Airdrie.Water Services provides leadership in sustainability and environmental stewardship in providing the citizens of Airdrie with safe and cost-effective service commensurate with service level commitments.The Opportunity:Working with existing Industrial Monitoring staff, collaborate in continuously developing the Industrial Monitoring Program. Collect and analyze samples of effluent and stormwater and use results to educate and encourage compliance with the City’s Sewer and Drainage Bylaws.

  • Inspect and monitor sources of FOG, including oil and grit interceptors
  • Conduct analysis of effluent and stormwater samples using supplied lab equipment
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Perform tests for effluent strength including TSS, FOG, COD and other parameters
  • Facilitate and coordinate third party testing, if required
  • Perform data management and data entry using LIMS software
  • Ensure municipal, provincial and regulatory guidelines are followed by Airdrie businesses
  • Engage with residents and business owners regarding their pre-treatment or testing processes
  • Respond to business owners and residents’ questions in a timely manner
You Bring:
  • Laboratory Technology Diploma or greater from a recognized post-secondary institution. A bachelor of science degree would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ of experience is required
  • Combination of laboratory and field experience required
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence
  • Experience with Sample Master (LIMS) software is considered an asset
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure is considered an asset
  • Exposure to commercial kitchen operation would be preferred
  • Ability to communicate with residents, business owners and fellow staff members in a courteous, positive and effective manner
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Demonstrated leadership in workplace safety
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to complete various physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
