Job Description

Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression, gas processing, and heavy oil facilities, and is actively advancing the development of products related to the decarbonization of energy production. By integrating comprehensive engineering services and first-in-class modular fabrication capacity with complete construction services, Propak designs and builds industry-leading hydrocarbon processing facilities for installation around the world.The Intermediate Estimator interacts with the engineering, drafting / design, project management and project controls team to verify the integrity of data inputs and ensure no detail goes unaccounted for in a cost estimate. This position is also responsible for the co-ordination of engineering design inputs as required.Key Responsibilities:

  • Review equipment list and generate mechanical man hours. Prepares fabrication man-hour estimate, by sub-function, from SBUMS, productivity factor history or from first principles.
  • Prepare fabrication and piping estimates in accordance with the Level 2 procedures.Identify change to scope from bid assumptions and recommends rates revisions.
  • Reviews, queries and understands the scope of work, specifications / standards along with contract price form, unit rate and lump sum breakdown.
  • Conduct regular site visits during and following quotation to fully understand the application of the job and to further strengthen our relationship with the customer.
  • Ensures estimate cover both known and yet to be designed/ finalized scope to eliminate any progressive growth in budgets. Applies the estimation using sub-functions and unit rates.
  • Reviews and prepares the material take off received from Engineering for submission to procurement. Co-ordinates bid inputs from design, construction and production engineers (when required).
  • Reviews the estimate for consistency. Prepare basis of bid, benchmarks, unit rates and other comparisons. May prepare bid enquiries for sub-contracted scope.
  • Prepares material take off and material requisitions.
  • Maintains fabrication historical records and discipline bid files.
  • Attends fabrication estimates reviews with Management when required.
Qualifications:
  • A two year diploma in an engineering technology or an engineering degree with emphasis in mechanical/structural engineering; or
  • An experienced Trade Professional, with a Journeyperson Certificate, along with significant directly related EPC experience will be considered in lieu of a diploma or degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in fabrication in an EPC organization.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office software with a proficiency in Excel.
