Job Description

Polaris Travel Clinic and Pharmacy in Airdrie is accepting applications for a full time (30 hours a week) medical office assistant.Our clinic focuses on providing vaccinations for patients, either in advance of their travel or for non-travel purposes like COVID vaccines, flu shots or other school/workplace reasons. Our office looks and feels like a physician’s office even though it is considered a pharmacy.The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the clinic, which includes the following:

  • Greet people
  • Answer, screen and forward telephone calls
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Receive and issue payments
  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date patient charts, including data entry of patient care information into health records software
  • Managing and faxing patient reports
  • Digitizing paper records
  • General cleaning and sanitizing of clinic
Experience:
  • Education as an administrative assistant or medical office assistant is preferred but not necessarily required.
  • Experience in working in a pharmacy or medical clinic is an asset.
Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential
  • Strong communication skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work both independently with minimum or no supervision and in a team environment
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail is very important
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Clinic hours are Tuesday 12noon-730pm, Wednesday 12noon-730pm, Thursday 9am-430pm, Friday 9am-430pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm. We have no plans of being open on Sundays or holidays. The schedule for this position will mostly be from Tuesday to Friday, but some Saturdays may be scheduled.Extended health/dental benefits available.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $17.00-$18.00 per hourBenefits:
