Job Description

Universal Coach Lines is expanding and in search for a dedicated and driven professional to join our experienced Operations Team as a Dispatch Associate.Universal is a leading passenger transportation company proudly moving more than 2 million people per annum with an unwavering commitment to safety, reliability and customer service. To best serve our customers, the company manages and operates a fleet of over 150 coach buses and passenger transport vehicles in 3 locations across Canada including Vancouver, BC, Airdrie, AB and Pickering, ON. This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Airdrie office in Alberta and presents an excellent opportunity to gain experience for growth within the firm and the transportation industry at large.Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage inbound and outbound requests related to bus services, service routes and vehicle information.
  • Administrative and management support in the dispatch of drivers and vehicles to maintain a high fleet utilization rate and maximize service efficiency.
  • Monitor GPS tracking of vehicles in operation to ensure optimal on-time performance and provide immediate support to service delays.
  • Supervise drivers and maintain routine communication with operations and safety team to ensure vehicle compliance and safety standards are aligned.
  • Oversee fleet usage and bus service levels to sustain efficient utilization of vehicles, equipment and personnel within budget parameters to effectively manage company resources.
  • Support operations team in the management and collection of departmental performance metrics and KPIs for data analysis and ensuring maximum productivity and service route coverage.
  • Facilitating charter bookings and trip sheets to provide smooth operations within the company.
  • Work well with colleagues and act as a contributing member to a collaborative, professional and fun operations team.
Job Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or certification in related field of study.
  • Previous experience in the transportation industry and customer service role is preferred.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of geographic locations, vehicle routing opportunities, and traffic conditions within the Airdrie/Calgary area is desirable.
  • Readiness to collaborate and work in different capacities as part of a team.
  • Resourceful and independent self-starter with confidence to engage with customers and manage multi-tasking effectively.
  • Strong passion for busses, motor coach vehicles and passenger transport is a huge asset.
  • Excellent computer, problem solving and customer service skills will be valued.
  • Strong ability and comprehension Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is a must.
  • Exhibits a professional and courteous attitude with an emphasis in customer service.
This is a permanent, full-time position that includes paid in-house training. The selected candidate would be able to start this position and role immediately.
