We’re a place where you just might be a perfect fit.Our Team:Parks maintains, designs and develops public green spaces, outdoor recreational facilities and ensures that a diverse parks system is maintained to the highest standard to provide opportunities for active and passive leisure that enhances the quality of life of our residents.The Opportunity:The Parks department is looking to fill a full time position. As a member of the Parks Operations Team the successful candidate will perform documented inspections on various landscape construction projects to ensure quality control and assurance that the contractors have met their obligations.Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the review of detailed landscape plans
  • Inspect all areas of developer based green space construction
  • Execute inspections as per City of Airdrie landscape development standards
  • Supervise the construction of Parks Operations projects
  • Provide technical input regarding specific landscape construction standards
  • Participate in the lifecycle management of Parks assets
  • Review proposed utility line assignments to minimize impacts on City green space
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for Council, other departments and the public
  • Liaise with other departments, contractors and suppliers as required
You Bring:
  • Completion of a 2 year technology diploma with an emphasis on either Horticulture, Landscape Construction and/or Architecture
  • 2 years of experience in landscape construction
  • Knowledge of landscape construction practices, processes and the ability to read and understand landscape design drawings and plans
  • Valid Alberta or equivalent Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Strong observation, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
