We’re a place where you just might be a perfect fit.Our Team:Parks Operations maintains, designs and develops public green spaces, pathways, outdoor recreational facilities and sports fields. We ensure that the diverse parks systems are maintained to the highest standards while providing opportunities for active and passive leisure that enhances the quality of life of our residents.The Opportunity:The Team Leader, Parks Operations will provide overall leadership and direction to staff in the Parks department, encompassing the day-to-day operations, maintenance and long-term capital planning activities associated with our City’s parks and cemetery infrastructure on a year-round basis.

  • Schedule, direct and monitor all work task assignments for departmental employees and contractors as well as maintaining daily records of work assignments
  • Manage, recruit, train, motivate, evaluate and lead employees
  • Manage and develop annual operating budget, capital budget and the long-term capital plan as well as preparation of reports on a variety of matters to Council and committees
  • Develop policies, procedures and standards relative to parks operations and maintenance
  • Respond to service delivery concerns raised by the public, internal/external stakeholders and Council
  • Develop and foster positive working relationships with a variety of community groups and sports leagues
  • Plan and coordinate necessary infrastructure improvements based on identified needs
  • Prepare and administer documentation related to the provision of contracted services related to parks operations
  • Provide input to internal and external stakeholders on the development of park spaces and associated outdoor recreational amenities and related projects
You Bring:
  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • C.E.T. designation or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a municipal setting with two years of proven experience at a senior coordinator or supervisory level
  • General knowledge of preventative maintenance programs for parks and sports field infrastructure
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Operators License
  • Other related qualifications (ie. Certified Technologist) an asset
  • Certification or accreditation in a post-secondary related to Parks Operations & maintenance an asset
  • Previous planning and/or project management certification and experience an asset
  • Experience with computers; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Windows 7 and CAD programs
  • Effective leadership skills with strong organizational and supervisory abilities
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Establish effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to a team environment
