Overview:Scraper OperatorSureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with 49 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.Work for Sureway and enjoy being home with your family/friends every night!We offer: Benefits, RRSP and TFSA MatchingJob Type: Full Time, SeasonalSchedule: 10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/weekLocation: Airdrie, ABEssential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditionsRequirements:

  • Personal Reliable Vehicle
  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Pre-employment:
  • Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Scraper Operator Responsibilities:
  • Operate scraper controls to regulate the height of the blade and bowl to shape and contour the site.
  • Operate the Scraper in successive passes over construction surface to raise or lower terrain to specified grade, following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
  • Ensure scraper is in proper gear, and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
  • Ensures proper use of the cushion hitch while operating the scraper.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
