Waste and Recycling Services endeavors to position Airdrie as a municipal leader in environmental stewardship.The Opportunity:The Airdrie Recycle depot is a public service location. Customer Service is our number one priority.

  • Provide a high level of customer service through timely and knowledgeable responses to ensure proper collection, sorting and shipment of materials
  • Assist residents as required by;
  • directing traffic flow as required
  • greeting/educating residents on the depot site and items accepted
  • physically assist residents, bringing material to the appropriate collection areas (wearing appropriate PPE)
  • offering alternative options for items not accepted
  • Work in accordance with established Safe Work Procedures
  • Conduct/participate in daily/weekly/monthly inspections
  • Ensure material is consistently managed and prepared by;
  • Managing volumes to ensure residents have consistent access for depositing material
  • Maximizing shipping volumes
  • Inventory counts as required
  • Ensuring material is contaminant free
  • Sorting material to its proper location
  • Maintaining a clean worksite by sweeping, shoveling, litter picking etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assemble, deliver and repair curbside carts as required
  • Assist Operations Coordinator/Team Leader as required
You Bring:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to deal with conflict situations in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Experience in municipal waste and recycling is an asset
