Job Description

Company ProfileMinto Metals, a producing underground copper mine has exciting opportunities to become part of our team and live by our Company values – Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Great!PositionWe are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator 3 for a full-time/regular position. The role will be based at the Minto mine, 250km north of Whitehorse, YT. This is a camp-based operation with a two-week on/two weeks off rotation. Travel to/from Whitehorse and the mine site is paid for by the company.The Ideal CandidateYou will have;

  • 5-7 years related experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator;
  • Certified trade ticket;
  • Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment;
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada;
  • Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships;
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Valid drivers license;
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
Responsibilities:
  • Safely, proficiently and efficiently operate multiple pieces of equipment, including zoom boom, rubber-tired backhoe, loader, various trucks, etc.;
  • Experience operating a Grader;
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment;
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment;
  • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance;
  • Required to help out as required with various labour related tasks including fueling, vac truck, water truck, garbage pickup, assist trades people, snow shoveling and additional duties as required;
  • Work cooperatively as a member of the Maintenance Team;
  • Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures;
  • Ensure that safety issues are reported and promptly remedied;
  • Demonstrate safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness in all work or task related duties;
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties;
  • Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels, including keeping your cross-shift and other team members fully always informed
  • Participate in site specific training;
  • Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards;
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.
