The Provincial Maintenance Management Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of the Integrated Operational Delivery Section within the Regional Operations Branch of Alberta Parks. The integrated operational delivery section is a small unit of senior technical staff who provide assistance, guidance, and coordination to field delivery staff across the entire province.Regional Operation Branch is responsible for enabling outdoor nature-based recreation and natural heritage appreciation across 246 high-value sites, facilitating approximately 12 million visitors annually, and consisting of a peak summer operating season team of over 700 permanent and seasonal staff. Regional Operations is responsible for the delivery of an eclectic range of front-line public services ranging from safe water plant operation to engaging interpretation stage shows.RoleOperating with a high-degree of independence, the Provincial Maintenance Management Coordinator (PMMC) is the provincial subject matter expert for the Maintenance and Municipal Services Management stream. While this position has no direct reports, the work directly impacts how maintenance and municipal services management programs are delivered across the province.The maintenance and municipal services stream focuses on site servicing and repairs, identifying capital maintenance and renewal requirements, asset condition reporting, operating site utilities (sewer, water, power), and quality assessment of maintenance and contract work. Ensuring an effective maintenance and municipal service program is essential to ensure visitor experience outcomes are delivered in the Parks system.This Provincial Maintenance Management Coordinator is responsible for driving the operational planning, coordination, and implementation of maintenance for Alberta Parks. This includes determining new and emerging opportunities for maintenance and municipal services management, leading working groups to advance initiatives, and providing expert guidance on the operational policy that guides front-line service delivery.Core responsibilities include the following:1. Leading and developing the Alberta Parks Maintenance and Municipal Services Delivery Strategy2. Operationalizing the Maintenance and Municipal Services Delivery Strategy with a focus on harmonizing implementation among all regions within Alberta Parks:

  • Providing effective project management for strategic initiatives
  • Developing communication and training tools
  • Coordinating, tracking and monitoring compliance
  • Delivering professional development and developing seasonal staff training
  • Coordinating and developing best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Being a champion for a culture of continuous improvement within the stream.
3. Leading the development of strategic alliances, partnerships and networks to achieve optimized delivery of Alberta Parks Maintenance and Municipal Services Management Delivery Strategy.QualificationsEducation as per Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • Diploma in infrastructure, trades or maintenance related field plus 7 years of progressively related experience in maintenance management, infrastructure management or related role.
  • Equivalencies based on one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience will be considered.
Assets:
  • Knowledge and experience working with maintenance programs, principles, and processes
  • Direct experience in delivery of maintenance program
  • Knowledge and experience with Alberta specific OHS legislation, regulation and codes
  • Experience working within the publically delivered parks system
  • Experience and/or education in project management and/or change management

  • This is a full-term permanent position with 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
  • This position does require periodic travel within the Province of Alberta, and the position will occasionally require overtime work.
  • Class 5 License is required.
  • The preference is to work in the Edmonton, Red Deer, Canmore, Lac La Biche or Lethbridge parks offices. Alternative locations with an established Parks office may be considered.
  • Effective January 1, 2023 there will be a 1.25% pay increase for this position.
