The team works collaboratively together and includes 2 full-time family physicians, 1 family practice nurse, a visiting dietician, and a visiting social worker. This opportunity provides the option of providing nursing home coverage and inpatient care (participating in the CHIP program). Also, opportunity exists to participate in a variety of other areas that fit your professional interests and skill set including, but not limited to, emergency room coverage, addictions medicine, etc. Physicians are supported to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University. This clinic utilizes MedAccess as the EMR, and administrative support staff is available to physicians.The Arichat Medical Clinic is located only minutes from the St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, approximately 20 minutes from the areas local hospital, Strait Richmond Hospital (SRH). SRH serves residents of Richmond County and the southern portion of Inverness County. The two regional referral centres for the area include Cape Breton Regional Hospital (located in Sydney) and St. Marthas Regional Hospital (located in Antigonish). Both regional hospitals are located approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Arichat.Responsibilitiesduties include full scope of practice as a family physician providing care to patients within the eastern zone and participating in callthe physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health AuthorityExpected Hoursfull-timeQualificationseligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsLocated near the southern coast of scenic Cape Breton Island, the community of Arichat is located in Richmond County on the beautiful island of Isle Madame.
