Job Description

Position FULL TIME LUMBER SUPERVISORDepartment HOME CENTRELocation AssiniboiaResponsibilities

  • Provide customer service to customers, and providing information and product knowledge which are maintained through being dependable for all shifts.
  • To supervise and delegate the work flow and duties of the Lumber Clerk.
  • Responsible for the operation and administration requirements of the department as set by the guidelines of the Lumber Manager.
  • To perform all opening and closing procedures and assist with the point of sale system when necessary.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and use of equipment in the warehouse and on the sales floor, including appearance of facilities.
  • To conduct “manage by walking around” tours to ensure that the Southland Co-operatives standards are being met and to correct any areas in which standards are not being met.
  • To be responsible for the adherence and enforcement of Southland Co-op policies and procedures.
  • To be responsible in the area of loss prevention.
  • To provide accurate and professional estimates.
Requirements
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Willingness to further knowledge through training
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Practical experience in lumber an asset
  • Must have a positive, professional approach and attitude
  • A pleasant and out-going personality
  • Physically able to do heavy lifting, climbing and kneeling
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, including morning, evenings, and weekends
  • Forklift certification would be an asset.
  • Class 5 driver license and driver abstract to be provided.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment testing as per Southland’s Alcohol & Substance
