Great Western Railway Ltd., a shortline railway situated in Southwest Saskatchewan is looking for full-time permanent track maintainers to be based out of Shaunavon, SK, and Assiniboia, SK. GWR operates on and maintains over 400 miles of track.Position: · To work within a team environment under the direction of the track maintenance foreman to maintain and repair track.· Be able to judge distances and positions when patrolling assigned track sections.· Will assist in the identifying and repairing or protecting track that is deemed out of standard.· Clear ice and snow from track switches and road crossings in the winter.· Operate maintenance equipment or to be trained and qualified to operate equipment, hydraulic hand tools, hand machines such rail saws, rail drills and bolters.· Clean and maintain trucks, tools, and equipment in a manner that keeps them in a safe and reliable condition for required railway maintenance jobs.Essential Qualifications: · Grade 12 or equivalent.· Able to work individually or in a crew environment.· Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner.· Physically fit and capably of lifting items of 50 – 100 lbs.· Valid driver’s license.· Employees are required to follow all health and safety standards and policies of the Great Western Railway Ltd. with respect to Covid 19 as per the Government of Saskatchewan Employers’ COVID-19 EmergencyExperience not required but will be an asset.
