Job Description

Logistics DepartmentOutline of Position Accountabilities, Expectations, Skills and ResponsibilitiesFor Logistics Manager Position:Position Accountabilities: With a “Can Do” attitude, the Logistics Manager will provide supervision of the ZyTech’s delivery operations. This position will be accountable for forklift and trucking activities and includes forklift operators and truck drivers, process controls, labor costs and equipment maintenance. This position is responsible to enforce ZyTech’s quality and safety guidelines and to direct a productive work place in which EWP, lumber, truss and tall wall product are loaded and then delivered on schedulePosition Expectations: Through active engagement with Supervisors and staff, the Logistics Manager will focus on;

  • effective implementation of ZyTech’s safety program.
  • provide work direction, organizing and delivery department activities to achieve daily tasks, commitments and customer satisfaction.
  • alignment of manpower and equipment to maximize output.
  • continuous improvement of productivity and efficiency, quality and accuracy.
  • leadership, coach and positively motivate supervisors and staff.
  • optimization of delivery assets, managing equipment, limited yard space and staff.
  • supervisory duties that include training, personnel administration, disciplinary action, effective and timely feedback of positive results, responsiveness and staff adaptation, delegation of work to motivated, capable and empowered team member.
Position Responsibilities: The Logistics Manager is responsible to establish and uphold each step of the delivery process,from loading the truck to transport and off-loading of product.
  • Authenticate that established and documented loading, delivery and drop off procedures are ac-curate, understood and carried out by each forklift and truck operator. Results of the delivery process must be recorded, organized and filed.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily deliveries to fore fill obligations, assigned projects and loads to the proper equipment and subcontractors for efficient and successful transport and drop off.
  • Preplan and schedule next days’ deliveries. Obtain oversize permits as required.
  • Audit delivery documents and loads. Check paperwork for inclusion of production packets, bill of lading and way bill. Verify loaded trucks for accuracy of quantity and damaged product.
  • File and retain daily driver logs and preventative maintenance reports. Submit requests for re-pairs to Maintenance Manager and adjust the schedule to allow for down time of equipment.
  • Oversight of receiving procedures, documenting incoming loads and filing of paperwork.
  • Lead all efforts to identify bottlenecks and reduce wasteful movements, plan corrective actions.
Position Skills:
  • Leadership with interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication capability.
  • In depth understanding of Alberta DOT rules and regulations and ZyTech delivery documents.
  • Working knowledge of safety procedures, manufacturing and distribution process, MS Word, Outlook and ZyTrac software.
  • Ability to quickly react to problems, muti-task, forecast and plan ahead.
  • Certified Forklift operator and Truck Driver CDL.
