Job Description

Do you have a talent for creative product display Blue Grass, Calgary’s largest Nursery and Garden Center is looking for outgoing, creative, reliable people to work in our Garden Centre. This position is an on-demand role meaning that shifts will vary from 2-5 days per week depending on seasonal needs.Duties include:

  • Reporting directly to our Purchaser and Retail Manager
  • Plan and liaise with purchaser and manager to develop merchandising strategies that balance customer’s expectations
  • Maximize customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately
  • Produce layout plans for the store and maintain store shelves and inventory
  • Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs, etc. with the purchaser and retail manager
  • Build constructive customer relationships and team with product knowledge and sales techniques
  • Answering questions on our products
  • Pricing & stocking shelves, with new or transferred merchandise
  • Changing/attaching price tags to merchandise
  • Responsible for keeping Garden Centre clean and presentable at all times
Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills.
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and creating a store flow to optimize sales
  • At least 3 years experience in a customer service
  • At least 5 years experience in merchandizing and stock management
  • Strong computer and POS terminal knowledge is a must
  • Fluency in English and a second language would be an asset
