Monitors inventory levels to manage expenses, minimize loss, and maximize revenue. The Warehouse & Distribution Superintendent ensures that goods are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities.The objective of this role is to ensure that the shipping processes are running smoothly and effectively.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:May be responsible for evaluating freight services, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with chosen vendors. Additionally, Distribution Center Superintendent may require a bachelors degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.To be a Distribution Center Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.

  • Reviews incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Monitors warehouse workers and associated activities; offers assistance to those with concerns or problems on the work floor.
  • Ensures that products delivered are stored in an organized manner, so that its quality is maintained and accessibility is achieved.
  • Creates a layout plan that streamlines the storage and retrieval of goods.
  • Implements worker safety and health regulations.
  • Plans projects and sets objectives for the employees to meet.
  • Responds to orders efficiently so that products are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinates with store managers or customers regarding discrepancies and errors in the supply chain process.
  • Addresses logistical problems and furnishes solutions to these issues.
  • Meets with other managers to confer about products, shipping times, and distribution issues, among many other concerns.
  • Improves business by opening new contracts and enhancing systems.
  • Creates new supply strategies.
  • Supervise and lead subordinates (receiving clerks, order pickers etc.)
· Control budget of the shipping department· Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimize processes· Resolve issues regarding shipped orders· Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies· Report to management on activities and issues· Performs other duties as required to support the operation.Qualifications:· Supply Chain, Logistics or related training· 3 years of senior level leadership in a shipping environment· Advanced knowledge of logistics procedures, shipping and receiving procedures· Comfortable with paper work and information systems· Experience in preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)· Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)· Open to change and willing to learn new skills· Ability to stay organized in a fast paced dynamic environment· Ability to follow up on pending issues· Ability to meet deadlines· Good understanding of budgeting and reporting· Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates· Excellent organizational and communication skills· Attention to detail· Problem-solving abilitiesOther requirements:
  • Must be able to work extended hours and Saturdays as scheduled;
  • Must have reliable transportation (no public transportation available);
  • Energetic and self-starter attitude.
