Job Description

Position Overview:The Finishing supervisor oversee the day to day operation of the Finishing department for all Northplex Homes and Structures.To be successful in this position, the Finishing supervisor must have a strong organizational, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills. As this is a highly technical department, a keen eye for details, time management and good work ethics will be required. Working individually or as a team, the Finishing supervisor will have a dependable team that will ensure that projects are completed on a timely manner.Position Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure department works as a team
  • Lead and assist with all line moves
  • Hold daily tool box meeting
  • Maintain a high level of communication within the department and fellow supervisors
  • Ensure all employees are up to date conform to company policy’s
  • Provide support and teaching to all employees
  • Ensure department has adequate man power to meet the demands of manufacturing
  • Keep a high level of positive attitude, good work ethics and morale
  • Ensure department has the required tools and materials to complete tasks at hand
  • Ensure healthy and safety regulations are being met
  • Organize relevant training when needed
  • Maintaining excellent quality standards
  • Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Supervisory Requirements:
  • Conduct regular daily tool box meeting and setting priorities.
  • Oversee and schedule personnel to accomplish the scheduled work making sure it is completed
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to employees when needed.
  • Assign work making full use of an employees abilities and knowledge.
  • Monitor the work of employees by inspecting work for accuracy, quality, and throughput.
  • Review work orders, assess possible problems and potential solutions
  • Maintain and organize within the department, inventory of all materials and tools
  • Ensure that inventory levels are accurate by working with the Finishing lead hand
  • Coordinate the activities of the department with all other manufacturing departments. Work with staff departments and make full use of their services.
  • Review all reports available to control costs, schedule work and eliminate shortages.
  • Communicate with employees, peers and other staff members
  • When new products are developed, provide the input needed to insure they can be manufactured and processed within the guidelines set forth in this job description
  • Work with the manager of the department and other personnel to accomplish duties as agreed upon.
Position Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:
  • Must have 3-10 years in manufacturing, supervising experience in Finishing modular structures
  • Minimum High School Graduate (Grade 12)
  • Solid understanding of the modular manufacturing industry, pertaining to Finishing component
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions independently and carry out assignments to completion given standard parameters, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledgeable to the current construction safety codes
  • Able to multi-task, prioritizations and achieve goal setting
