Job Description

  • Greet customers in a pleasant and helpful manner
  • Responsible for adequately stocking grocery store shelves
  • Responsible for new product displays
  • Prices new items and ensures that price changes are carried out appropriately
  • Assists customers in finding requested grocery items or with questions regarding pricing
  • Handles all grocery products in a safe, sanitary manner
  • Maintains cleanliness and neatness of grocery isles
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must follow all Occupational Health and Safety requirements at all times
  • All other duties as assigned (may be required to work in other departments within the supermarket)
  • Shift flexibility required
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in a supermarket environment considered as asset
  • Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
  • Must possess good communication skills
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks
  • Ability to use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities
  • Must have good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation, kitchen safety and food presentation
  • Knowledge of food preparation/presentation for a wide variety of food items

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
  • Will involve frequent repetitive hand actions
