Job Description

SaskTel Centre is Saskatoon #39;s premier sports and entertainment venue, providing world-class event experiences for the social and cultural enrichment of our community. We create positive memories for every guest.We are searching for a highly motivated and results driven Director of Booking and Events who will be responsible for the booking, producing as well as create new events with the objective of ensuring a well-balanced event line-up that satisfies the requirements of the SaskTel Centre #39;s business plan. The ideal candidate will have experience working with different promoters in North America, as well as have used their marketing background to promote and create new events. SCOPE AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as the primary contact for all event bookings and manages the facility #39;s booking calendar.
  • Oversee and manage the venue booking calendar for live entertainmentamp; public events including and not limited to supporting our in-house tenants (Blades, Rush and Rattlers) and other hockey leagues.
  • Develop bid proposals for potential clients and follow through on pending bookings.
  • Pursue new rental and co-promotional opportunities with potential corporate and community clients
  • Conducts analysis of prospective events to determine the likelihood of success. Makes recommendations for all co-promoted and self-promoted events. Implements and delivers events as approved by the Chief Executive Officer and when applicable, the Board of Directors.
  • Manages all aspects of SaskTel Centre #39;s annual self-promoted events such as Rock the River, Motorsports Spectacular which includes budgeting, marketing, production and expectations for future growth.
  • Develops potential additional annual self-promoted events.
  • Manages contract negotiations for all events.
  • Identify low-usage periods and formulate strategies to increase facility usage and revenue production during these periods.
  • Works with Event Services Department for to ensure all service levels are delivered and revenues are maximized. Actively supports the goal of ensuring our clients (promoters and facility users) and customers have a positive experience and continue to bring their business to SaskTel Centre.
  • Works with the marketing department to determine marketing needs as required by the promoter, contract or other external members from the show.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the annual budget and event forecasting.
  • Assist with the settlement of events.
  • Manages contract negotiations for all events.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with business and community leaders to positively position SaskTel Centre within the province.
  • Works as a Duty Manager for events in the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Commerce (marketing major preferred), or other related field and;
  • Minimum seven years experience in booking, organizing and staging special events in a major public assembly facility.
  • Progressive experience with contract negotiations, development and execution
  • Has a strong track record of building relationships and generating new business.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles related to the preparation of budgets and invoices.
  • Knowledge of the legal implications and terms used in contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and consultation through problem-solving, consensus-building, stakeholder involvement, and dialogue.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and support staff in achieving desired results.
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in oral and written form to a variety of audiences.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of civic personnel, external agencies, and the public.
Hours of work:
  • Regular office hours plus events as required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
