Seabee Gold Operation welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences to apply.SSR Mining - Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Field Geologist Summer Student.About Your New Role:Reporting to the Senior, Geologist, the Field Geologist is responsible for assisting the Exploration Geologist(s) in operating field camps and drill/field programs by logging drill core, undertaking geological field mapping and associated sample collection, report writing (weekly, monthly, etc.), data organization and handling, participating in and planning safety activities/meetings, and assuming interim leadership roles in remote camps (drilling and field operations).Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Geological core logging with associated data entry, and management of drillhole databases.
  • Assisting in the management and logistics of operating a field camp, drill program, or field program.
  • Traversing through a remote bush environment while undertaking geological mapping.
  • Collecting and recording of high quality and detailed field data such as rock fabric elements (foliation, lineation, folds) along with rock and soil samples for geochemical analysis.
  • Orienteering with GPS/compass to navigate traverse lines.
  • Interim supervision of remote camps.
  • Additional tasks as required.
  • Ability to lift to 60lbs and occasionally more with the assistance of another employee.
Your Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to handle the physical nature of field work (hiking with a pack weighing up to 50lbs).
  • Competence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Ability to pick up new skills and techniques quickly.
  • Strong attention to fine detail.
  • Efficient time-management skills and ability to be self-motivated and self-managed.
  • Ability to work well with other employees and in a team setting.
  • Possession of a valid driver #39;s license, and Pleasure Craft Operators Card is required.
  • Up to date First-Aid training is required and may be able to be provided in certain cases.

Your Education and Experience:The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor #39;s Degree in Geology or current enrollment in a post-secondary geoscience program.
  • Prior experience on a drill/field program and/or in a remote camp setting is an asset.
About Our Working Conditions:This position has a schedule of 2 weeks in / 2 weeks out at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge. To be considered for the Fisher or Seabee properties the candidate must be able to get themselves to one of SSR #39;s fly-points.
