  • Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, piping layout, mechanical layout or general arrangement drawings of industrial buildings and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical and piping systems
  • Be knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.
  • Participate in formal design review processes
  • P amp;ID design and review.
  • Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities
  • Perform field verification, and provide field support during construction
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise
Skills and Experience:
  • Technology Diploma or equivalent (Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum of two years piping and/or mechanical design experience or equivalent relevant experience
  • Design, drafting and modelling skills in 2D and 3D environments
  • Working knowledge of piping components and materials
  • Ability to take instruction and work independently
  • Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and codes as required
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred:
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation, OpenPlant P amp;ID or Design Review CAD software is considered an asset
  • Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities
  • Good understanding of design principles related to mechanical and/or piping systems
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients #39; toughest challenges
