Join us as we assist mining companies in getting mined materials to communities around the globe.Your OpportunityThe primary responsibility of the Project Execution Manager for the Canadian Mining, Minerals and Metals business center (BC) is to build a strong culture of client support, accountability, passion, and career development/ progression for a team of project managers (PMs) that range in years of experience fromgt;1 to 30 . The position requires strong leadership and proven management and business development skills to support growth of the PM team and our client relationships. We are flexible with your office location and some travel will be required.The focus of the Project Execution Manager for the Canada Mining BC is to grow our PM team and enhance our project management practices, thus improving delivery to our client and reducing risk to our business. The Project Execution Manager will help develop successful PMs, promoting a culture of client service for both internal and external stakeholders, building their strength in understanding and anticipating client needs and expectations, developing and executing strategies to advance the client #39;s objectives and managing risk, establishing priorities, promoting alignment across program and project teams, and resolving project issues.Project managers within the BC will report directly to the Project Management Manager. The Project Execution Manager will be responsible for coaching project managers, as well as growing their client service competences and commercial acumen; maintaining compliance with the PM Practice Framework; and in support to the Project Management Commercial Leaders (PMCLs) within the BC, regularly monitoring the commercial, quality, and risk position of their team #39;s projects.Your Key Responsibilities- Support implementation of project-focused Health, Safety, Security and Environment practices.- Collaborate with business leaders and functional supervisors to recruit, retain, mentor, coach and lead project managers and project managers in training, including development of succession plans for key positions and identifying and closing capability gaps among project management staff.- Lead PM team meetings to discuss project needs, lessons learned, PM practices, and build a strong network of business development-focused project managers.- Provide formal and informal feedback on individual performance of PMs.- Work with the PMCLs to implement a framework for regular project review meetings with PMs and project controls personnel to monitor project-level performance, budget, schedule, risk, and quality management.- Drive consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with Stantec project management requirements.- Recommend improvements to work processes, policies, and procedures at every opportunity to enhance project management and execution.- Coordinate with PMs and project sponsors to implement corrective actions for distressed projects, adapt and apply procedures to address unusual problem situations, and engage BC or BL leaders when needed to support this effort.- Support the BC leadership in review and approval of proposal and project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans-ensuring plans are fit-for-purpose and BC approvals are in place.- Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Demonstrated ability to create, foster and lead a team.- Strong experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify when a project is in trouble (e.g., deviations from baseline scope, schedule, or budget) and provide guidance on mitigation measures or corrective action to address the problem.- Strong interpersonal and business development skills to effectively work and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers.- Familiarity with Stantec Mining, Minerals and Metals Business Line service offerings and client base.- Understanding of Stantec Project Management Framework.Education and Experience- Bachelor #39;s Degree or higher in Engineering or comparable technical, business, or professional degree.- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other #39;s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
